Today’s 10 Commandments
The first speeding ticket ever issued was given to a man named Walter Arnold of East Pekham, Kent in the U.K. on Jan. 28, 1896. Arnold was ticketed for driving 8mph (13km/h) in a 2 mph (3.2 km/h) zone.
The most expensive speeding punishment ever reportedly issued was to a father in Rotterdam, Netherlands who had his 2.4 million dollar sport car impounded. Why? His son was caught driving it 100mph in a 50mph zone!
Have you ever broken the speed limit? Perhaps for most people, the better question would be, ”Have you ever kept the speed limit?” Once, I was driving 60 mph in a 40 mph zone. It wasn’t long before a patrol car drove up behind me with its lights flashing. To my surprise though, the officer simply gave me a warning.
Needless to say, I was delighted! But then I got to thinking. Did the officer do the right thing? Was his forgiveness really grace?
